Interview With JR -- Puerto Vallarta

Q>
Where in Mexico do you live? How long there? Do you work/retired?

A>
I live in Puerto Vallarta (the only way to go). Been coming here for over 20 years, some 14 years ago I lived here for 5 years and now have been here for 2 years. Made the mistake of going back to L.A. and it took me 12 years to come to my senses. Theoretically, I'm retired but I'm doing some work via e-mail with a company in the Philippines as a consultant and I run my Web site <vallarta-info.com> as well as acting as Webmaster on several others.

Q>
Do you own or rent?

A>
Rent!

Q>
What do you like best about living in Mexico?

A>
The people. The most simpatico in the world! The climate is not bad! The produce for food is excellent. You are accepted for what you are, no B.S., and when you are accepted it is from the heart. Need I say more?

Q>
What are your biggest concerns about living in Mexico?

A>
Biggest concerns? Hmm... trying to keep the dust out of my computer? Trying to stop the cat from going crazy every morning at 6 AM? that's about it.

Q>
How has Mexico changed you?

A>
Sure I've changed..I'm more relaxed and healthier. Actually I'm HAPPY!

Q>
Whats the best piece of advice you would give to a newcomer?

A>
Best advice... Accept the culture, immerse yourself in it.. don't try to impose the culture you came from. For example; I started going to the butcher and getting meat cut thick, like a steak, talk about tough! now I get it 'delgado' real thin, like all my Mexican neighbors, marinate it a little and cook fast... not bad and hardly any fat - healthier.
